I’ve devoted many sleepless nights with my team to organize the 626 Night Market. It has truly been a pleasure to work so closely with our team to promote our small, local businesses and to bring our community closer together. It’s almost bitter sweet that the season has finally ended. The top things I am surely going to miss are our vendors, late night hours at cafes, the delicious food, and most of all — our volunteers.
Not many of our fans realize the dedication and spirit our volunteers put into the events. An event of our size is almost impossible to pull off without community support, and I got to tell you that our volunteers give us the best kind of support.
Month after month we have seen the same faces return. Even after we’ve relieved them of their shifts we will still see them at the end of the night asking if we need help. Even when they don’t sign up to volunteer they show up asking to volunteer.
I can’t tell you how uplifting that feeling is. It takes a real special kind of heart to want to give the way our volunteers do and I feel so proud that these are the individuals that will grow up to inherit our community.
To all the volunteers who have participated for our night market since the very beginning, thank you for your services. Jennifer Banh and I are incredibly humbled to have been your volunteer coordinators. Until next year. I can’t wait to see you guys again.
